Double Rainbow Over Hamilton - 2008-06-17 21:12:57

Over the last couple of weeks we've been getting some really intense weather systems blowing through here bringing lots of thunder and lightning. Last evening the weather forecast was again calling for the chance for thunder so I made my was up onto the escarpment brow just as the sun was going down to see if I could catch some excitement. Unfortunately, lightning wasn't to be seen and I instead got rained on :( Just as I was about to pack it in for the night the rain cleared and the sun came out below the black clouds and what to my amazement did appear but a double rainbow over east Hamilton. Luckily I still had the gear set up with the NN3 pano head on the tripod so I snapped this 6 vertical frame HDR pano before going home (18 shots with the 50mm lens). I first processed the 3 differently exposed shots and then stitched the 6 resultant images together to get this result. At 100% resolution the detail in the city is incredible, Toronto is even visible in the distance.
