Last Friday we have a pretty good storm blow through and deposit a good helping of snow. On Saturday morning I got up early and headed out to check out this site along the road to Niagara that I thought might look interesting with a fresh helping of snow. The tall ship which is parked in shallow water near the shore is a bit of a naval mystery. It's been in this location for probably 10 years or more now and used to be completely covered in wood but in 2002 vandals put a torch to it. I've read that it was originally a floating restaurant called the Le Grande Hermine that used to operate out of Montreal before mysteriously being brought to this location. Even though it's only a rusting steel hull now, I imagine it still turns a lot of heads as people drive past it for the first time. |
