The trip I took this time was spent in London and Paris with a fast train ride between the two cities as a highlight from the newly renovated St Pancras station. Mostly for my sake, the pictures will be posted in rough chronological order so to start with this image is from within Westminster Abbey in London looking past the choir stalls and down towards the Nave.

I wasn't supposed to take this picture but it was hard not too with such glorious architecture before you. In fact, almost anywhere you go these days in public or private spaces you are not allowed to take photographs - you will be especially singled out if you are carrying an SLR and tripod - this is particularly bad in London. Most of the time I almost felt like a criminal taking my camera out, forget about setting up and composing a good shot it was all I could do to set the camera down and discretely trip the shutter without even looking through the viewfinder. BTW - this has nothing to do with security or religious respect but everything to do with commerce - if you can take a half decent photo yourself, why would you buy the postcard from the tourist gift shop. Sorry for the rant but this really got my blood boiling.
